We’ll let you know the moment it opens. Tell us whether you’re after a hand or want to offer one and we’ll invite you to the right side of the marketplace.
How it works
Three steps, plain English, no surprises.
Tell us
Say what you need a hand with, where you are, and roughly when. We don't ask for anything more than necessary.
We match
Verified local providers see your request. They send a short message saying what they'd do and what it might cost.
You choose
Read the responses on your own time. When one looks right, share your details. Until then, nothing leaves the platform.
For sons, daughters, partners, carers
Post on behalf of someone you care for
If you help a parent or partner with daily life, you can post a request on their behalf. Providers will know who the help is for and what to expect, without your loved one having to navigate the form or share their contact details until they want to.
Common questions
Is this really free for me?
Yes. Posting a request, reading responses, and chatting with providers is free. Providers pay a small fee to reach out and a second one if you decide to share your contact details with them. You never pay Our Mate.
How do my details stay private?
Your full name, address, and contact details are never shown on the public board. Providers see only the part of your request you choose to make public (suburb, category, budget range). When you're ready, you can release your details to a specific provider with one tap.
Who can respond to my request?
Only businesses with a verified, paid listing on Our Mate. We cross-check every listing against the relevant Australian registers (My Aged Care, NDIS Commission, ASIC) before they go live. Anyone who responds is a real local operator with skin in the game.
Can I close my request once I've found someone?
Yes. Close it from your inbox the moment you've made a choice. New providers stop seeing it instantly. Your earlier conversations stay in your inbox if you want to come back to them.
What if I’m posting for my parent or partner?
Tick the 'this is for someone I care for' box. Providers will know they're helping a third party and what to expect. Your loved one doesn't have to be involved with the platform unless and until they want to be.
Will Our Mate share my email with providers?
No. We don't share or sell your details. Email replies route through the platform until you decide to release your details to a specific provider.
For service providers
Help locals who need a hand
If you run a senior-friendly business or work as a sole trader, the marketplace gives you a steady stream of local, qualified leads. You only spend a credit when you reach out, and again when the person shares their contact details. No spam, no time-wasters.
- Only paid-tier Our Mate listings can respond, which keeps the bidding pool serious.
- You see the full request once you spend a credit. The board hides identifying details from anonymous browsers.
- Subscription tiers include monthly credits; top-up packs for busy months.
