Terms
Terms of Service
Plain English version. Last updated 3 June 2026.
Agreement
These terms apply to your use of ourmate.com.au(the “service”), operated by Our Mate. By visiting the site, creating an account, claiming a listing, posting a help request, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What the service is
Our Mate is a directory and information service. We list providers of aged care, NDIS support, retirement living, and community services in Australia, with the goal of helping people choose between them.
We are not a provider of care, support, or medical advice. We do not deliver the services listed; we connect you with providers who do. Decisions about your care or a relative’s care should be made with input from qualified professionals (your GP, an Aged Care Specialist Officer, a NDIS planner).
Using the directory as a visitor
Searching, browsing, and reading listings is free. You can create an account to post a help request, claim a listing, or shortlist providers; magic-link sign-in only, no password.
- Do not scrape the directory or use it to compile a competing dataset. We provide an API for partner use; email support@ourmate.com.au to discuss.
- Do not abuse messaging, shortlist sharing, or the help-request form to send unsolicited marketing or harass providers.
- Information shown about a provider comes from the provider, from official Australian registers, and from our editorial checks. We try hard to keep it accurate; please verify important details directly with the provider before relying on them.
Claiming and managing your listing
Listings can be claimed by the owning organisation. We verify ownership via the listing’s registered email domain, an ABN match, or a verified register identifier (My Aged Care service ID, NDIS provider ID).
- Only an authorised representative of the organisation may claim a listing. Claiming a listing you don’t own is a breach of these terms and may be reported under the Criminal Code Act 1995.
- Once verified, you can edit listing content, hours, photos, and services. We may moderate edits where they appear to breach Australian Consumer Law (misleading conduct, false or unsubstantiated claims) or our editorial guidelines.
- We may revoke editing rights if you misuse the service, including posting harmful content or attempting to game the ranking. Revocation does not refund any subscription paid in advance for the current billing period unless required by law.
Subscriptions and payments
Listing-owner subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. Tiers and prices are shown on the pricing page and are the single source of truth.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel any time from your account billing page; the subscription remains active to the end of the current period.
- We do not refund partial billing periods on cancellation unless required by law (see Consumer Guarantees below).
- Featured Plus is sold exclusive per (LGA, primary category) pair. If a Featured Plus slot becomes contested for the same pair, the existing holder retains the slot to the end of their billing period.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes any consumer guarantee, condition, or warranty that cannot be excluded under Australian law (in particular, the consumer guarantees in Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, the Australian Consumer Law).
Where we are permitted to limit liability, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with your use of the service is limited, at our option, to:
- resupplying the service; or
- refunding the subscription fees you paid for the current billing period.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- Post anything false, misleading, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate any person.
- Interfere with the security or operation of the service, including attempting to bypass rate limits, anti-spam measures, or authentication.
- Collect personal information about other users.
Content you submit
You retain ownership of content you submit (listing edits, help requests, messages). You grant Our Mate a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, copy, and distribute that content as part of the service. The licence ends when you delete the content, except where copies have already been shared (for example, an enquiry message already forwarded to a provider).
Ending your use of the service
You can stop using the service at any time. Delete your account via privacy@ourmate.com.au; we honour the request within 30 days, subject to retention obligations described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with or without notice depending on severity. Where we terminate without cause, we will provide pro-rata refund of any subscription pre-paid for the unused remainder of the current period.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes are notified on the homepage for at least 14 days before taking effect. The current version always lives at this URL.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New South Wales, Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
