Men's Sheds
Welcome to Anglesea & District Men’s Shed - where active minds meets for the good of themselves and the general Community.
The Shed has a diverse range of members and skills, some come to participate in the woodworking activities, others in the metal workshop whilst others enjoy the chat and discussion in the community room or to potter in the garden beds surrounding the Shed. In addition to activities in the Shed we also have some outside activities.
Our shed is a beaut place for men to fiddle with their pet projects, or to make wood 'things' to sell later on at 'The Local Market'.
Some of our members spend time in our 'rec room' just chatting until the cow bell rings, signaling time for morning tea. There is always something to do. You may have a game of darts, play around on one of our computers (there is always someone to help should you require it), play cards or a board game, or just sit a read. There is something for everyone, and it we don't do it (or have it) then we will try to accommodate our members.
Activities:
Markets: To support our community work we make and sell toys and other goods at the Anglesea Riverside market on the Melbourne Cup weekend and the Easter Sunday marker. We also sell goods through the Anglesea Indoor Market, the Anglesea Bowls Club, the Community Bank and directly from the Shed.
Tip Shop: The resale shed at the Anglesea Transfer Station is run by the Anglesea Community House. The Anglesea and District Men;s Shed typically staff the “tip shop” at least once per quarter and help out during the year as required.
Monthly Movie Show
The Shed has a regularly monthly outing to the Waterland Movie centre at Moriac where our genial host Rick has a plethora of modern and classic movies to impress us. The movies are typically followed by a lunch and Moriac.
Roo Run: The Shed typically assists the Anglesea Motor Yatch Club with their annual running event the Roo Run on 27 December by providing a water station at the halfway point of the run.
BBQ: To help promote the visibility of the Shed a BBQ is typically held in the main shopping precinct on the Saturday of Queens Birthday weekend each year,
In addition to the above activities the Shed also undertakes some outings or day trips. This is typically one or two additional outings per year.
Woodworking for Women courses: the Shed has run a number of Introduction to Woodworking for women courses. 2022 marks the first year the Shed has run an advanced course.
