The large vegetable gardens contains 7 raised garden beds which provides fresh vegetables for the members. The members have installed a Solar hot water system and a 4.6KW Solar power system. These initiatives should negate any electricity bills and provide a steady income from selling electricity back to the power grid at 44 cents per KWk. The Shed now has a ground bore and allotment irrigation system. Again this bore should negate the Council excess water charges. The shed has a monthly waste container service which has proved very economical and saved on Council waste disposal charges. The members have established a beautification program for the allotment which consists of ten citrus trees, turf lawns, shrubs and flower gardens and weeping bottlebrush native trees.A person in a wheel chair can travel 2 blocks from the Ayr CBD on a concrete pathway and then access all BMSA buildings on wide 1.4m wide walkways. There is free car parking in the internal car park and plenty of free parking in Young Street in front of the sheds. A warm welcome awaits any visiting members from other Men's Sheds.
