Men's Sheds
In 2016 a group of men and women from the Injune district gathered to form the Men’s Shed. In 2017 the Injune and District Men’s Shed was incorporated and registered with the Office of Fair Trading. In 2018, the IDMS Inc. became the registered lessee of the land and the brick building at 24 Railway Parade, Injune. Following fundraising efforts, membership drive and money obtained from the gambling fund, in 2019 the IDMS Inc. obtained consent from the State Government and a shed was built on this land.
In January 2020, the shed was opened and in the ensuing years the members have carried out significant improvements to the site and surrounds and equipped the shed as well as maintained the meeting room.
Activities include woodwork, metal work and blacksmithing. The Shed also provides a wide range of craft activities and hosts workshops for men, women and youth in the broader community promoting leatherwork, leadlight and copper foiling, black smithing and knife making, painting and silversmithing.
