Brunswick Valley U3A

Brunswick Valley U3A, formed in 1999 and incorporated under the Office of Fair Trading, provides learning and social opportunities for retired and semi-retired people. The U3A is part of the international movement that originated in France in 1973, offering accessible education without formal entry requirements or examinations. With approximately 100 members, the organisation creates a welcoming community focused on shared learning and friendship.

The Tuesday Forum gathers members most Tuesdays at 10am for speaker presentations and social connection. Beyond the main forum, members can enrol in courses and join interest groups meeting at various locations and times throughout the week. Activities span intellectual, creative, physical and recreational interests, including debating, philosophy, chess, mahjong, dancing, gardening and film appreciation.

All aspects of the U3A are run by volunteer members who share their knowledge and skills with others. The organisation operates on the principle that people in their third age bring valuable experience and expertise that enriches community life when shared in a cooperative, supportive environment.
