Gloucester District U3A, founded in 2009, operates as a not-for-profit, volunteer-run learning organisation serving the Gloucester District. The U3A follows a worldwide movement where retired or semi-retired people share knowledge and teach each other from their life experiences. There are no formal qualifications required to join, nor are there examinations or tests.
The U3A offers a range of classes and special events of varying lengths held in venues throughout the Gloucester District area. Prospective tutors for new classes are always welcome to contribute. Members enjoy both the educational and social benefits of participation, with courses designed to stimulate the body and mind. The organisation creates a welcoming community for older people to remain intellectually and physically engaged.
