Snowy Mountains U3A

Snowy Mountains U3A, based in Cooma, offers a comprehensive program of weekly classes open to the public. The University of the Third Age is a worldwide organisation identified through academic research as the fastest-growing adult education movement in Australia. The U3A provides accessible learning without formal entry requirements, exams or awards, focusing instead on intellectual engagement and personal enrichment.

Courses span visual arts including drawing and painting, languages such as German, French, Italian and Spanish, technology and computing, music including ukulele and guitar, physical activities like tai chi and yoga, games and entertainment, literature and creative writing. Some classes run continuously throughout the year while others are workshop-based. The organisation welcomes new ideas and suggestions for courses from members and the community.

Members can trial classes for two weeks before committing to full membership, making participation low-risk and accessible. The U3A operates on principles of self-help and mutual support, with community volunteers and members contributing as course presenters. All learning activities are held at accessible venues with no steps.
