U3A Southern Highlands

U3A Southern Highlands is a volunteer organisation offering learning experiences for retired and semi-retired people throughout four terms per year. The U3A operates as a cooperative requiring member participation, with some members volunteering as course leaders while others support courses and assist at social events. The organisation acknowledges the traditional land custodians and values youth leaders as future elders.

Courses cover a diverse range of subjects including arts, crafts, music, current affairs, environment, history, humanities, languages, lifestyle and fitness activities, and science and technology. Members can enrol in multiple courses each term, with the organisation offering more than 60 courses per term. Course leaders do not require formal qualifications but bring life experience and passion for their subject areas.

The U3A emphasises social connection alongside learning, recognising that both contribute to quality of life in retirement. The organisation welcomes volunteers to join management committees and assist with events, creating multiple ways for members to engage with and support the U3A mission.
