Men's Sheds
We are only a small Shed with 12 members with a very diverse skills set that allows us to tackle some very interesting projects. Some that were unique projects were – a complete rebuild of a horse drawn wagon from basically a set of wheels and some steel work for the local Heritage Society. Building a 2 seater “Jimmy Possum” chair from timbers taken from old abandoned farm houses in the District. This chair takes pride of place in our local Museum.
We rarely buy any timber for our projects as we have access to local native timbers from Members properties that we can mill into usable materials for our Shed.
Occasionally we do sell products at Local Markets as another source of income. Arty crafty type products for the home and garden are very popular.
We are fortunate that we are located in the middle of the Coal Seam Gas area of QLD and the various companies are very supportive of our Shed in many different ways.
The age spectrum of our members is from the baby at 71 to the senior citizens in their mid eighties and the fellowship is fantastic.
Our spouses have nicknamed it “DADDY DAYCARE” but we don't mind.
Some days we get get serious and work and other days we just talk!
That is how it should be.
Activities:
Furniture restoration Making things to sell at markets
Drinking cuppas and talking.
