Sydney U3A

Sydney U3A is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organisation serving retired and semi-retired people across the Greater Sydney metropolitan area through seven regional divisions. The organisation offers hundreds of courses, presentations and social activities covering the arts, sciences, history, languages, philosophy, music, computing and fitness, with both face-to-face and online options available. Members can attend activities in any region regardless of their own locality, creating flexibility and choice.

The U3A operates on the principle that people no longer working full-time can continue to learn, create and engage with community. There are no prerequisites, minimum or maximum age requirements, or educational qualifications needed for participation. Volunteers lead and administer courses and talks, with learning focused on personal enrichment rather than formal credentials.

Headquartered at Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts, the organisation provides support for course delivery and member engagement. Sydney U3A acknowledges the Dharawal and Dharug people and their continuing connection to country. The U3A recognises that lifelong learning, creativity, exercise and community interaction are essential to wellbeing in retirement.
